About Our Winter Session
Parents, Players, and Coaches,
It is almost time to register for Glendover Basketball. As a neighborhood basketball league, Glendover Basketball is organized around the community we serve. Registration will begin September 3rd, practices will begin in November, and games will follow in late November/early December. We encourage you to participate in other Fall activities without concern of missing any basketball. Although signups are beginning soon, practices do not start until November. Any overlap in activities will not be a problem.
Player evaluation and draft dates will be set soon. Those dates will be posted and emailed once they are set. Gameday locations include Glendover Elementary, James Lane Allen Elementary, Calvary Baptist Church, and Crestwood Christian Church. Weekly, one night a week practices will be held in these and other facilities in the area. Games are primarily on Saturdays throughout the day, with a few Friday night games also possible.

League Orientation
Glendover Basketball strives to foster an environment which combines both a competitive and encouraging approach to youth sports. We have playing time requirements so that everyone is involved, but these requirements embrace competition as well.
Our volunteer coaches dedicate their time for practices and games each week. Some are first-time coaches while others have years of experience, but all are committed to helping kids in the community. Please keep this in mind throughout the season. If you are interested in coaching, check the box on the registration form and you will likely get a call.
Team Placement & Requests
We do not specifically honor requests to play with a friend, neighbor, cousin, etc. You are welcome to make a request, and coaches are aware of these when drafting, but no guarantees can be made. Age is considered for K–1st players, where requests are given more weight. Competitive balance usually takes priority.
Game & Practice Details
The $165 registration fee includes a 10-game schedule, an all-inclusive tournament at the end of the season, and weekly practices. Practices begin in early November, though the schedule may be irregular at first as other sports finish up. Games start late November or early December and run through early March.
Game locations include Crestwood Christian Church, Glendover Elementary, James Lane Allen Elementary, and Calvary Baptist Church. Games are held Friday evenings (6–9pm) and Saturdays (all day). Extra game days may be added for weather or scheduling needs.
Returning Players
Winter League teams carry over from Winter to Winter. If you were on a team last Winter and are still in the same grade division, you’ll be placed on the same team again unless you request otherwise. If you moved up a division, you’ll attend that division’s evaluation and be drafted again. Playing “up” a division is allowed — particularly for 5th graders choosing between Prep and JV.
Divisions
- 5th Quarter – K–1st
- Training Division – Boys or Girls (2nd–3rd)
- Prep Division – Boys or Girls (4th–5th)
- JV Boys – 5th–6th
- JV Girls – 5th–8th
- Varsity Boys – 7th–8th
- HS Lower – 9th–10th (closed to high school team players)
- HS Upper – 11th–12th (closed to high school team players)
Note: 5th graders may choose Prep (smaller ball, 9 ft rim) or JV (regulation ball, 10 ft rim).
